"Fed's bank bailout sets bad precedent; analysts "
The Federal Reserve's unprecedented intervention on behalf of Bear Stearns Cos. was intended to ease fallen from the credit crunch, but experts fear it augurs more government bailout as the crisis worsens. The move also reignited debate Friday about how big a role the Fed should play.
Several banking experts were unsure about the Fed's plan to save Bear Stearns, saying it sets a bad precedent at a time when other investment banks could wind up in similar trouble due to bad mortgage-linked investments.

サブプライム問題で資金繰りが悪化したアメリカ大手の金融会社をアメリカの中央銀行である連邦準備制度理事会 （Fed ＝ Federal Reserve Board） が金融支援を行ったという記事です。 「財政的な救済 ＝ 金融支援」 ということを表現する場合、この記事に使われている “bailout” が一般的に使われます。
今回の措置は、日本で小泉内閣時代に民間銀行救済の為に行った公的資金投入 （public funds injection） と同じものではありませんが、この記事の中でも 述べられています様に、一部の専門家たちは中央銀行が民間銀行の救済に介入することに対して疑問視しています。
