セミコロン : semicolon (;)
句読点(punctuation)のひとつであるセミコロン (;) は、次のような場合に使われ、文を読む人が文の意味を 理解するのを助けます。
- 1.接続詞では結ばれていないが、密接に関係のある二つの文をつなぐ場合
- 2.コンマを含んでいる文を分ける場合
- 3.接続副詞(however, moreover, therefore, consequently, indeed, then, etc)が使われている文を分ける場合

Several times White House and Democratic Congressional officials said they believed they had a deal; several times they were wrong.
