"School bullying cases in Japan that lead to police probes hit a 10-year high"

In Japan, some bullying cases lead to individuals being probed by police. In 2023, that number hit 292, police data showed on March 14.

The figure is a sharp rise from the privious year and the highest in 10 years.

The total number of cases among students in elementary, junior high and high schools increased by 116 from the year before

Last year, the education minister asked schools to work more closely with police on bullying-related incidents.

2022年と比較して、小学校、中学校、高校で急増し、116件も増えたとのことです。文部大臣は、学校に対し、より緊密に警察と協力し、いじめ関連の事故を少なくするよう要請しました。

文部科学省（Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technolgy）のいじめの定義は、「当該児童生徒が、一定の人間関係のある者から、心理的、物理的な攻撃を受けたことにより、精神的な苦痛を感じているもの。」となっています。
